Welcome to our web site on Mobile WiMAX!

This website brings you updates on the technology and its applications.

Mobile WiMAX represents a revelutionary new technology for broadband connectivity over a wireless medium. WiMAX is based on technologies based on IEEE802.16e-2005 and implemented as per the profiles and parameters prescribed by the WiMAX Forum. It is different from all the previously available technologies as it provides a quality of service ( QoS) based connectivity,as well as mobility, both a first over a wireless medium.
The WiMAX Forum is now certifying wave 2 devices which support multiple antennas ( MIMO technologies) which can further enhance the bit rates which can be delivered or provide higher tolerence to multi-path propagation. Mobile WiMAX base stations are available from a number of vendors worldwide.Mobile WiMAX devices based on IEEE 802.16e-2005 are available now.
The Year 2008 is slated to be the year of Mobile WiMAX  not only as it will be in this year that WiMAX forum certified devices will be available, but also that it will be characterized by the first " Big-bang" introduction of WiMAX networks. XOHM, a service being launched by Sprint Nextel based on mobile WIMAX technology will be available in the US in areas which will cover over 100 million of population and will cover all the financial centres.
Mobile WiMAX is not merely about provideing a high speed wireless link, but also open architectures and protocls, quality of service which can be guaranteed for each application. It has been trialled in over 200 networks and many commercial networks are successfully operating using this technology.
The use of Mobile WiMAX is contingent upon the availability of necessary spectrum in different countries.
